Three Great Men's T-Shirts from Dakine

 By Aaron Lovell

Looking for a performance-packed tee for your next race, ride, or vacation? Try these standout styles from Dakine.

Cascade Jersey, MSRP: $45
Billed as a bike jersey, the Cascade is really a great shirt for virtually any activity, outdoor or indoor. The lightweight polyester/bamboo rayon fabric has a nice drape and is extremely breathable, so it is comfortable to run in and quickly wicks away sweat. It’s also treated with an anti-microbial agent, so it doesn’t get funky like a lot of technical fabrics. At first, I thought the high V-neck collar would bother me, but it actually gives the shirt a slightly dressier look for wearing out on the town. I really like the style now! The sewn-in eyeglass cleaner chamois (Surprise!) is easy to reach, stitched in the left side seam, just above the bottom hem.

Verdict: A great all-arounder that looks good and delivers performance on the trail, the street, or your favorite restaurant.

Off Shore Shirt, MSRP: $44
You have to feel the Off Shore next to your skin to believe it. Buttery is a good description. It's smooth and cool and seems to stay that way, no matter the activity. Mine has performed admirably as a triathlon top, while paddling the Green River, and just jogging in my neighborhood. The UPF 50+ quickdry poly mesh breathes like a dream and has a good amount of stretch, which provides a somewhat athletic fit and doesn’t chafe, even after prolonged activity. One word of caution: wash this shirt in a mesh bag. Otherwise, exposed hook-and-loop in the laundry might cause the fabric to snag and pill.

Verdict: A versatile sport shirt that is especially at home in the water. Also available in short sleeve.

Wet/Dry Surf Shirt, MSRP: $25
DaKine’s Wet/Dry Surf Shirt is made from a lightweight Dri-Release poly/cotton blend that preserves the feel of soft cotton but maintains the wicking capabilities of more technical, and more expensive, fabrics. I’ve worn this shirt everywhere from the sunny streets and beaches of Rio to the humid, forested hills of Alabama and the dry, windy climes of the Great Basin Desert. No complaints. A great travel piece, the Wet/Dry Surf Shirt packs small and light and doesn’t get quite as wrinkly as cotton tees after being crammed in a suitcase or duffel. In terms of performance, it is equally at home on a run, playing in the surf, or chilling on the couch.

Verdict: Quite possibly the world’s most perfect t-shirt.
