Sweet 5Ks: Donut Dash and Freeze Your Cookies Off Reviews

DonutDashNShoeweb

Outdoor Sports Guide participated in two fun 5Ks on the last two weekends, Donut Dash and Freeze Your Cookies Off! Both races tempted us with tasty treats, so we braved the cold and had a blast!
Remember the little (ha ha) snowstorm we had two weekends ago? Donut Dash 5K came right in the middle of it. We ran this fun race near Memory Grove and as I neared the halfway point, the light snow turned into a full-on blizzard.

At the 1.5-mile marker we all stopped to eat as many donuts Banbury Cross Donut Holes as we could, receiving a ten-second time deduction for each eaten. I have to say that in terms of time I'd have been better just running, but eating the donuts was fun! The finish line festivities included more donuts and apple cider inside a warm building at Memory Grove.
The total number of donut holes eaten was 484 with an average of 6 per donut. All in my group ate five holes each.
Below are the results for fastest times and most donuts eaten. Looking forward to signing up for next year's race!
Male fastest time: B.J. Christenson 18 minutes 25 seconds

This weekend, a few of us went to American Fork for the Freeze Your Cookies Off 5K and Cookie Buffet. I admit, the Cookie Buffet initially attracted me. Who doesn't love cookies? And these were good cookies. Thankfully the weather was much better for this race, and the 5K featured a challenge route with plenty of uphill and downhill sections. Our runners did well with the challenge: John Cline came in 4th in his age group and Rachel Mahler (running for Elyse Henderson) came in first in her age group. I finished a respectable 6th in my age group! See the full results here.
After the race, trays of cookies from Over the Top cookies with yummy flavors like s'mores and coconut made us glad we'd burned a few calories beforehand. Village Inn was also onsite offering samples of their pies as well as pictures with their mascot, Bucky.
