Recently voted Outside Magazine's "Best Town Ever," Park City is the place to party on Labor Day. Their Miner's Day celebration, held annual on the first Monday in September, begins with a tasty pancake breakfast in City Park followed by a fun 5K run at 8:30 a.m. where costumes and general tomfoolery are encouraged. Everyone receives a goody bag and t-shirt, and speedy runners can win age and overall awards. You can sign up online through Sunday HERE.
Stay after the race to catch the popular "Running of Balls" event on Park City Main Street at 10:45 a.m. This is the Rotary Club's biggest fundraiser of the year, and you can join in the fun by paying $5 for a ball that will be released on Main Street in a race to the bottom. The adoptive parent of the first ball wins airline tickets, and many other great prizes are available too. The parade down Main Street follows the Running of the Balls.
After the parade the festivities move to City Park for live music, and one of America's only mucking and drilling competitions. I'm not even sure what mucking and drilling competitions involve, besides the use of expensive mining tools, but I can bet it will be fun to watch. See below for full Miner's Day schedule.
